The Different Flooring Solutions of Vista ... - Home Improvement Ideas

The Different Flooring Solutions of Vista Remodeling

When you take a pick from various flooring materials, there are several things which you have to put into mind. One of the things which you have to consider is the flooring material. Make sure that this is comfortable to the feet and safe from hazards. For example, you are more prone to slipping on tile floors. When you have kids, you should make sure whether a tile floor is safe for them. Another thing which you have to remember is the style or design of the flooring material. On the other hand, you also have to see whether you will benefit much from your choice or not. Since you will be spending a lot of time within your home, you should make sure that this is as comfortable as possible.

If you are not sure what flooring solution fits your home, there are several home improvement service providers to help you out. One of these is Vista Remodeling which originated from Denver in the year 1999. This company will be able to help you choose the most suitable flooring material for your house. Aside from helping you with your decision, this enterprise will also provide you with flooring solutions. Vista Remodeling offers three varied types of flooring materials. These are laminate, hardwood or wood, and tile.

A laminate flooring solution is among the most well-known types of floor materials. When you want to avail of the house remodeling services of Vista, you can choose to have them install this kind of material to your home. On the other hand, a laminate floor is also used in offices as well. In general, laminate has a similarity with parquet floors. This is due to the use of multiple layers of flooring materials. The lower layers of the laminate are resistant to humidity and they isolate sounds. On one hand, the top layer of a laminate floor serves as the protection of the lower layer. Furthermore, it also serves as the decoration or the design. Compared to linoleum or carpet flooring, laminate does not lead to floor marks or burns. This is the reason why it is considered as ecological.

The second type of Vista?s flooring solutions is hardwood. You can choose to install hardwood floor when you want your home to feel cozy and comfortable. What is more, hardwood also provides a sense of elegance and vibrancy to your house. Natural wooden floors, whether solid wood or hardwood, are regarded as high-quality flooring materials. Remodeling your home with wooden floors will allow you to benefit from the durability of this material. This implies that you will not be replacing your floor for a long time since wood can last for several years.

The third type of flooring solution at Vista Remodeling is tile. Whether for bathroom remodeling or kitchen remodeling, tile is among the most common flooring materials used. When you go for tile floors, you can take a pick from granite; travertine; or ceramic. It is easy to install tile, which is why there are a lot of home owners who choose this over the other types of flooring solutions. Other than its easy installation, tile is also hygienic, ecological, and long lasting. What is more, it cleans easily and resistant to humid climate.

Spanish soccer league locks out radio reporters

The Spanish soccer league locked out radio reporters from stadiums Sunday at the start of the new season after broadcasters declined to pay a new fee worth ?15 million ($21.6 million) to transmit matches live.

La Liga decided to introduce the charge shortly after the end of last season. Radio stations have covered live soccer matches free of charge since the 1920s.

Reporters who turned up to work to cover three first division matches on Saturday found their accreditations denied if they carried radio equipment.

On Sunday, those who went to cover the first match, Atletico Madrid vs. Osasuna, were turned away for the same reason, with similar treatment expected at six other Primera Liga clashes, including Barcelona vs. Villarreal on Monday.

Stations have only been able to use short live radio reports from journalists who entered with just cell phones. Some second-tier clubs who do not normally get television coverage did let radio reporters in.

"Radio has always been an important part of soccer, without it soccer is not the same," said Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho.

"Radio has helped cover professional soccer matches since the 1920s and most sports fans cannot imagine a weekend without our roundups with live reports from games all around the country," said Alfredo Gimenez of state broadcaster RTVE.

Calls Sunday to the Spanish Professional Football League (LPF) went unanswered.

Many clubs in the first and second divisions of the Spanish league face financial difficulties because income from ticket sales and television rights no longer meets costs.

Earlier this month professional players in both leagues went on strike to reclaim ?50 million ($72 million) in back wages owed to more than 200 of them.

One complication is that around half of the revenues from TV rights received by La Liga goes to its top two clubs, Barcelona and Madrid, University of Barcelona finance professor Jose Maria Gay told The Associated Press. The other 18 clubs in the top tier and 22 in the second league have to fight for what's left of that pie.

Six of the 18 Primera Liga clubs are already in bankruptcy protection ? included all three teams just promoted from the second league: Betis, Rayo Vallecano and Granada.

First round matches were postponed last weekend because of the strike, until an agreement was reached on Thursday.

Then, when radio journalists turned up to cover the season's first top level matches on Saturday all but a handful in remote second tier locations were turned away.

"We are not going to pay the levy which the Professional League is asking," said top radio broadcaster Chema Abad of RNE.

While television provides viewers with instant moving images that each person can analyze, radio reporters must interpret events on the field, said Catalan radio broadcaster Robert Cortes.

"Because we interpret what we see for listeners, we are not infringing the image rights of any team, so we consider a charge for our services completely unjustified," he said.

Cortes said the new levy was complex, with broadcasters being asked to pay fixed fees for live commentaries, while spot interviews on the field of play would be offered to the highest bidder.

Radio stations said they would broadcast one minute of "dead air" ? total silence ? during Sunday's matches in protest.

"The final straw is going to be if radio stations start to play funeral marches during matches, like they do in dictatorships when there is a coup attempt," said soccer fan Manolo Blanco in Madrid.

Mitraclip therapy demonstrates benefits for heart failure patients who do not respond to cardiac resynchronization therapy

ScienceDaily (Aug. 28, 2011) ? Results of an observational study presented at the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) meeting August 28 in Paris demonstrate that the percutaneous catheter-based MitraClip treatment improves symptoms and promotes reverse left ventricular (LV) remodeling in patients with mitral regurgitation (MR), who do not respond to cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT).

The trial, called PERMIT-CARE, is an investigator-led study evaluating the safety and efficacy of MitraClip treatment in 51 patients with clinically significant functional mitral regurgitation (FMR) at seven European centers. All patients had unchanged symptoms and unchanged left ventricular volumes after at least six months of CRT. Nearly all patients enrolled in the study were considered ineligible for mitral valve surgery due to a high estimated mortality risk.

Results of the study demonstrate that FMR reduction with MitraClip treatment is feasible, safe, and leads to substantial improvement in NYHA functional class and reverse LV remodeling in approximately 70 percent of patients.

"Results of this study suggest that MitraClip treatment could offer, for the first time, a solution for heart failure patients who have severe MR and are unresponsive to CRT," said Angelo Auricchio, M.D., Ph.D., the study's lead investigator, of the division of Cardiology at the Fondazione Cardiocentro Ticino in Lugano, Switzerland. "Surgery is not a good option for these patients because of their advanced left ventricular dysfunction and low ejection fraction. We have shown that they were significantly improved following treatment with the MitraClip device. I look forward to additional prospective studies to confirm our findings and to evaluate appropriate timing of MitraClip treatment in heart failure patients."

CRT is a treatment for congestive heart failure, a common problem with significant prevalence and mortality, both of which increase with advancing age. Severe FMR is common in heart failure patients, including approximately one-third of those indicated for CRT therapy. CRT often reduces MR; however, MR has been reported to persist in about 20-25 percent of CRT treated patients, and in an additional 10-15 percent MR may actually worsen after CRT treatment.

Results of the study will be published in an upcoming issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

The MitraClip system is designed to reduce significant MR by clipping together the leaflets of the mitral valve, one of the four valves of the heart. The catheter-based MitraClip device is delivered to the heart through the femoral vein, a blood vessel in the leg. The heart beats normally during the procedure, and therefore does not require a heart-lung bypass machine. After treatment, patients are usually home within two to three days and have been observed to recover quickly. The safety and efficacy of the MitraClip system were evaluated in the EVEREST II randomized clinical trial.

The MitraClip system (Abbott) received CE Mark in March 2008 and is commercially available in Europe, Turkey, Israel and Australia. The MitraClip system is an investigational device currently under review for approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

How to Prepare for a Customer Service Hurricane ? Information ...

Colorized photo of Hurricane Irene (NOAA/AP Photo via ABCNews)

As I write this, Hurricane Irene?is churning its way up the East Coast. It?s hard to know whether it?s going to be a ?historic storm? or just a big mess. Either way, it raises some questions about how you would handle a similar storm in your Customer Service business.

Storm Forecasts are Dire Because Forecasters Want you to take Action to Save Life and Property

Hurricane forecasting provides some valuable early warning information, along with a checklist of how to prepare, and a strategy for dealing with unforeseen situations. Your crisis plan for a Customer Service storm should be similar, including the following:

    1. What to do if you get a whole lot of requests at one time ? it?s likely when you describe a problem as ?a Hurricane? then it?s something that simply overwhelms your existing capacity. Whether you broadcast out simple information on multiple channels (like the New York MTA?sharing information through Twitter and other channels.) or whether you simply give customers an easy way to understand what you can and can?t do during a ?storm?, sharing information beforehand is a big win.
    2. How to triage unfamiliar and unforeseen consequences ? the US Military teaches a doctrine called ?commander?s intent? which states the objectives to be completed and the conditions to be created that will demonstrate mission success. You should be able to explain in simple terms (but no simpler) the parts of your business and your customer service mission that must persist even in the face of overwhelming demand or unusual circumstances.
    3. How to maintain your existing standards, and exceed them in a time of great strain?- by the way, none of this is easy, which is why anyone would describe either the actual Hurricane Irene or an event that feels similar in your business. Maintaining those standards under duress is a mark of amazing service.
Customers will remember how you behave and how they?re treated, so a great model for how to behave is to remind them that you?re just like them. Use leaders like Newark Mayor Cory Booker as a model, who wrote today, ?Just in from walking flood prone streets in the East. I?m soaked but had good conversations with residents about the storm and preparedness.?

Ride Out the Storm, and Use the Same Methods for Recovery

Politicians are ultimately in the Customer Service business, so watching how they ride out Hurricane Irene, demonstrate leadership and share information, and just go about their business should provide valuable lessons for any of us as we think about how we would deal with a similar storm in our business.

    Good luck, Mr. Mayor.

Never True Tales, the blog, is "really all about one thing: the writing. The bare bones. The proverbial black on white", and I, for one can't read enough. Not only is Amy SO. VERY. NICE in real life, her prose is exceptionally entertaining, intriguing and just plain delightful.

Screen shot 2011 08 22 at 10.39.31 PM 610x94 Never True Tales...of the super speedy, super strong, & super smart.

Tell us about your blog title. ?What does "Never-True Tales" mean?
The Never-True Tales was actually coined by my then-three-year-old, who always?and I mean always?spun fantastical tales (still does, come to think of it). In each of his stories, he was super-something: super speedy, super smart, or super strong. He cast himself in the role of the hero he needed to be as the smallest and youngest in our family, and I found myself rooting for him, because at the end of the day, we all need to be heroes of our own making. We all need stories to tell (and to star in), and we all want a happy ending. Sometimes it just takes a while to get there.

SITS landing page photo 610x408 Never True Tales...of the super speedy, super strong, & super smart.

On any given day, what can readers expect at The Never-True Tales?
I consider The Never-True Tales to be one part memoir, one part essays and adventures in parenting, and one part community. Despite the fact that I had absolutely no foresight when I began blogging and invited all my relatives and real life friends and neighbors to read, I am steadfastly transparent in my posts. It?s not all heavy however: I?m known for my self-deprecating humor, I correct poor grammar in very obnoxious ways, and every Friday (ok, almost every Friday), I post what I call Retro Family Movie Night, where my family and I review a different movie we watch as a family. (The catch: the movies have to be at least a decade old.) I?m a big believer in community, and quarterly, I host a round-up called Won?t You Be My Neighbor, during which I host other bloggers on my site and encourage them to do the same in a pay-it-forward manner.

103 1691 610x457 Never True Tales...of the super speedy, super strong, & super smart.

Have you always been a writer? ?What is your muse these days?
I have always been a writer, in a literal sense, anyway. I published a children?s book when I was nine through a national contest then-called Written and Illustrated By?, which led to firsthand experience with the hard work of publishing and public speaking at an early age. It was a defining event in my life, one that would shape my self-identity for years to come, both in good ways and bad. I went on to earn a B.A. in Creative Writing and spent the next few years in journalism within the travel writing sector. When my children were younger (my husband and I had three kids in five years), I lost my sense of self in many ways; one casualty was my desire to write. I?ve since regained that love?along with a feeling of success at it?one baby step at a time. My first year or so of blogging, I?m quite sure no one was reading, but I now have a freelance travel writing career in conjunction with my family travel website, Pit Stops for Kids (blogging really can launch a revenue-earning job?as long as you?re not picky about how much revenue!) and was just last week selected as a BlogHer Voice of the Year for a post I wrote for The Never-True Tales (trust me, my jaw hit the floor).

Amy Vancouver profile 1 610x457 Never True Tales...of the super speedy, super strong, & super smart.

I?m not sure about muses?they tend to be flighty creatures ?prone to disappearing when the Cheerios hit the fan (that doesn?t happen in your house?), but most of my writing ideas come to me when running. I hit the pavement every morning at 5 am (yes, I?m one of those people), and often, it?s the only time of day I?m able to think untethered. I?m a very linear person, and once I?m sitting in front of a keyboard, I rarely give my mind permission to wander. My best ideas come while Lady Gaga?s pounding in my ears, and my biggest challenge is getting home fast enough to write them down.

103 1877 610x813 Never True Tales...of the super speedy, super strong, & super smart.

Where do you see your blog in 5 years?
Much more so than my travel writing sites, The Never-True Tales is representative of myself: who I am and what I believe at the core. It?s very much an extension of my fingers to my keyboard, to, well, you all, and as such, I?m interested far more in community and connection than in monetization. In five years, I hope The Never-True Tales continues to be a place where I can meet and collaborate with other writers,? where I can hone my craft, and where I can represent myself as a writer who is also a mother, a wife, a sister, a daughter, an athlete, a professional?you get my drift.

If you had one day all to yourself, what would you do?
I?m one of those people with awesome parents who live nearby and devote their time to their grandchildren (yeah, go ahead and hate me), so despite two jobs, three kids in competitive sports, and two blogs (one of which involves extensive travel), I actually get time to myself fairly regularly. The key (aside from the super supportive extended family) is selfishness. Down with this mothering martyrdom business! Start taking your ?me? time! When I do have time to myself, I usually spend it at home, in a quiet house, with my laptop. (How sad is that?)

Brazilian gunmen attack van carrying oil employees (AP)

RIO DE JANEIRO ? Police say four gunmen intercepted a van and a microbus carrying seven U.S. citizens, one Canadian and 10 Brazilians working for a company that provides services to Brazil's state-run oil company Petrobras.

A police spokeswoman said the two vehicles were stopped Thursday morning in Rio as they were heading to the airport. She spoke on condition of anonymity because she is not authorized to discuss the matter with the news media.

She says the assailants did not enter the van carrying the foreigners, but robbed the 10 Brazilians on the bus.

The Canadian suffered minor bruises on the forehead when the van came to a sudden stop behind the bus. No one else was hurt.

The names of the foreigners and their hometowns were not immediately available.

In the waters off the North Carolina coast, historically-significant World War II submarines and shipwrecks rest on the seafloor, a testament to a relatively unknown chapter in U.S. history. According to a new NOAA report, the shipwrecks are not only important for their cultural value, but also as habitat for a wide diversity of fishes, invertebrates and algal species. Additionally, due to their unique location within an important area for biological productivity, the shipwrecks are potential sites for examining community change.

In June 2010, scientists conducted biological and ecological investigations on four World War II shipwrecks (Keshena, City of Atlanta, Dixie Arrow, EM Clark), as part of NOAA's Battle of the Atlantic research project. At each shipwreck site, fish community surveys were conducted and benthic photo-quadrants were collected to characterize the mobile conspicuous fish, smaller prey fish, and sessile invertebrate and algal communities. In addition, temperature sensors were placed at all four shipwrecks, as well as an additional shipwreck, the Manuela.

The data, which establishes a baseline condition to use in future assessments, suggest strong differences in both the fish and benthic communities among the surveyed shipwrecks based on ocean depth.

Study identifies psychological factors that keep young adults employed

LAS VEGAS Today's rapid economic change and labor market turbulence make early careers particularly unstable, but new research to be presented at the 106th Annual Meeting of the American Sociological Association shows that young workers with certain characteristics may weather turbulent times better than their peers.

"The current 'Great Recession' in Europe and America has had particularly severe consequences for young workers," said University of Minnesota sociology professor Jeylan Mortimer. "They suffer high unemployment rates with lasting consequences for their careers."

The study identifies three psychological orientations and behaviors that influence employment success during the transition to adulthood: educational aspirations, career goal certainty, and job search activities.

"Although structural factors like industry, region, etc. are undoubtedly important, these three characteristics are found to be particularly significant career transition resources," said Mike Vuolo, an assistant professor of sociology at Purdue University.

Young adults who maintained high career aspirations and clarity of career goals from age 18 to 30 were more likely to be employed between 2007 and 2009 (when they were 33-36 years old) and also to have higher wages in 2009. Young workers who manifested greater indecision in their career goals were less successful in weathering the economic turmoil in the Great Recession. These trends persisted even when educational attainments were controlled.

"The factors identified in this study are interrelated amongst themselves and also influence longer-term successes and vulnerabilities during difficult economic times," said Mortimer.

This study relies on data from the Youth Development Study, an ongoing longitudinal study, which began tracking a group of 9th graders from St. Paul, Minn. public schools in 1988. The original sample included 1,010 adolescents. The participants have been surveyed annually since, and now are approximately 37-38 years old. The analysis for the Mortimer/Vuolo study spans the years from when the participants were 18 to 36 years old.

Articles 20VN | Home Based Business Choices - Is MLM or Network ...

Before starting a home based business, it's important for you to decide if multi-level marketing (MLM) or network marketing is the right business model for your situation. The first question you have to answer is, "Why am I starting a home based business?" If you pick the vehicle thinking the vehicle is going to make you rich, you're making a terrible mistake and wasting your time, effort and money. Getting rich is a matter of mindset that then affects your bank account. It's a reflection of your skill in the art and science of marketing, not the business model that you choose to get you there.

The first thing to do when choosing a home based business is to evaluate your needs. Needs are very different than wants. You have to determine whether you need funds for use now or later, because most home based businesses will only do one or the other initially.

If you need money now, I would tell you starting an MLM or network marketing business is probably a bad idea. Most MLM or network marketing programs are designed to create residual income, and for that reason, your number one most important focus should be longevity. With most network marketing companies, you should plan on spending more money acquiring new customers and associates than you receive in up front compensation. In time, the residual income you receive should make the business profitable.

There are some real advantages to MLM or Network marketing businesses. If you do it right, at first you're starving and all of a sudden your income just takes off. You start tagging all the levels, the compensation plan just lights up and you start making a bunch of money. And then as long as you keep going, it's a lot of fun because you're getting paid many times what your time investment is in that business. In other business models, it's much more difficult to get that income explosion. Another great advantage about MLM or network marketing is you can start the business for far less than a retail program. Also, you don't have the typical overhead like a storefront or a lot of equipment and most of the time you're not responsible for any of the customer service or fulfillment of the product at all. These are some fantastic advantages to an MLM or network marketing business.

If you need to be profitable now, you should be looking at something you can market on a retail basis. You should look for a product with the greatest possible markup and profitability per transaction. That allows you to spend more money on customer acquisition and still be profitable. You could also decide to contract your services cleaning buildings, landscaping yards or cleaning carpets, to generate the money you need to live on now. Of course, the other thing you can do if you need money in the next 90 days is to get a job and work for someone else.

Retail gives you now money, but the down side to retail programs is you may need to invest a good chunk of money up front and you'll be doing all the work initially yourself. So, if you get sick, just like with a job, you don't get paid and your business can die. That's another reason many home based business owners look at an MLM residual income businesses.

When you start to evaluate various businesses, think about it this way. If I start a retail business my margins are going to be really high but my cost of entry is also going to be higher than with network marketing or MLM. If I go with MLM, it is dirt cheap to get in and I don't have to buy any equipment, but my pay or commission per transaction is drastically less than retail. Instead of 100% markup, you might be looking at 10% on that first transaction.

So, before you choose a home based business, determine your needs and your ability to play the game. Pick the business model that best meets your needs. Remember that it's not the business model or company you choose that will ultimately make you wealthy. It's your mindset and your mastery of the art and science of marketing that will get you there. Resist the impulse to make a rash decision based on emotion, and use your God given sense to evaluate your individual situation and then make the best decision for you and your family to improve your financial lifestyle.
